HIS Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, called on the Ministry of Home Affairs to move forward in achieving its objectives by upholding unity and prosperity in the society.

In his titah during a visit to the Ministry of Home Affairs headquarters yesterday, the monarch said the ministry’s mission is to focus on socio-economic development in providing excellent government services.

The ministry needs to provide up-to-date information or statistics on goals achieved by the departments to make the public aware, the Sultan said.

His Majesty yesterday visited seven departments under the Ministry of Home Affairs to remind them of their roles in the country.

The monarch made stops at the Labour Department, Immigration and National Registration Department, Fire and Rescue Department, National Disaster Management Centre, Brunei-Muara District Office and Municipal Department.

During the visits, the monarch mingled with the employees while some were seen giving letters to His Majesty.

His Majesty also inspected the Labour Control System workstations at the Labour Department on Jalan Menteri Besar.

The Labour Control System was launched last year to make the Labour Department’s services available online.

His Majesty later visited the ground floor of the Immigration and National Registration Department. Foreigners and locals renewing their identity cards were seen taking pictures with the monarch.

The monarch also stopped by at the department’s Identity Card Unit, Travel Document Section and Enforcement Section.

Later, the Sultan observed a fire drill demonstration from first responders during his visit to the Fire and Rescue Department at the Old Airport Road in Berakas.

The Fire and Rescue Department also demonstrated a rescue mission to save victims trapped under collapsed building and cars.
