RBAF commander named honorary member of SFR

THE Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) has been conferred as an honorary member of the Special Force Regiment (SFR) on the occasion of the SFR RBAF 40th anniversary.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Defence, Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih Abdullah was conferred the honorary membership by His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Minister of Defence and Supreme Commander of the RBAF.

Pehin Major General Dato Mohd Tawih is also the first RBAF commander to receive the honorary membership where he was presented with the SFR Insignia, Maroon Beret and the Commando Dagger.

The 40th anniversary of the Special Force Regiment kicked off with the participation of the RBAF Commander in a hostage rescue training mission whereby an assault and Close Quarter Battle in a Mock Building were conducted in order to neutralise the terrorists and rescue the hostages.

It ended with the presentation of the new SFR Regimental Flag by the RBAF Commander to the Commanding Officer SFR.

The SFR is an elite unit in the RBAF comprising highly trained and specially equipped personnel capable of conducting clandestine operations, counter terrorist operations and other special operations via land, sea or air.

The ceremony took place at the Special Force Regiment Camp at Penanjong Garrison, Tutong.
