A former pharmaceutical clerk at the Ministry of Health has been jailed for seven months after she pleaded guilty to misappropriating over $10,000 belonging to the ministry. The defendant, Asdiana Hj Idris, was in charge of receiving payments in the form of cash or cheques from companies importing beauty equipment.

Between 2011 to 2012, the defendant began forging receipts.

Each receipt book had three receipts per serial number. On the first receipt, Asdiana would issue the amount paid by the company and submit it to the company for record keeping. Thereafter, she would use carbon paper to write on the second and third receipts a lower amount than what was received. She would then submit the second and third copies to her superior and the Ministry of Health respectively.

Authorities later discovered that she had misappropriated more than $10,000 over the course of eight months.
