Sungai Akar Arabic School maintains PSR results

SUNGAI Akar Arabic School was able to maintain its overall Primary School Assessment (PSR) examination results in 2015, said its principal.

Ustazah Pg Hjh Radiah Pg Hj Md Tahir said the number of students achieving five As in last year’s PSR examinations increased to 34 compared with 26 in 2014.

Speaking on the sidelines of a prize presentation ceremony, Pg Hjh Radiah said although there was a rise in the number of students achieving five As, the percentage remains more or less the same.

She said this is because the number of students taking the PSR examinations last year was 222 compared with 164 in 2014.

This shows that last year, 15.3 per cent of the students taking the PSR examinations managed to achieve five As compared with 15.8 per cent in 2014, a difference of only 0.5 per cent.

During the ceremony, another 105 students received awards for being the top three students in their class, where 57 were from the school’s secondary level and 48 from the primary level.

Muhd Najib Hj Rudyman, who received prizes for achieving five As in the PSR exams, being the top student in his class and the best overall student, said he was honoured to have been presented with the three prizes. He said he studied two weeks in advance in preparation for the exams, adding that his favourite subject was mathematics.

Hj Rudyman Hj Abdullah, Muhd Najib’s father, said he was overjoyed and proud of his son’s achievements.

“After all, it was all from his own effort. But there are other contributing factors for his success like his teachers and friends, (so) I’m glad for how they helped my son.”

Attending the event to present the prizes was the guest of honour, Hj Md ‘Abdoh Dato Seri Setia Hj Abd Salam, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The ceremony was held at the International Convention Centre.
