AQIDAH (faith) starts from the family, said Seri Begawan Religious Teachers University College (KUPU SB) lecturer Hj Muhammad Azmi Hj Omar.

Delivering a talk at the International Usuluddin Education Seminar 2016 yesterday, he said aqidah is not only believing that Allah SWT is the creator (al-Khaliq) of everything and Prophet Muhammad SAW as the messenger.

“We are required to live our faith with our actions. Implanting the right beliefs play an important role in the formation of a prosperous nation. It is not an easy task as it needs struggle, commitment and support from all parties. Therefore it should start from the family,” said Hj Muhammad Azmi.

Parents play an important role in shaping their children to become individuals who have strong _aqidah _and moral characteristics. “If every family unit has strong aqidah, then the whole community will have strong aqidah.” He said both parents and children should help each other to become a family with strong aqidah.

“When it’s time to pray, remind each other softly. Pray together and reap the benefits. As a country that follows the faith of Ahli Sunnah Wal Jama’ah, has proven to save the community from steering away from the correct form of aqidah. This can be obviously seen during national events which begin with religious ceremonies or recitations.”

Aqidah has a positive effect on shaping a prosperous nation regardless of race, religion and skin colour, said Hj Muhammad Azmi.
