THE Management Services Department (MSD), Prime Minister’s Office, is inviting all government ministries, departments, private sectors and members of the general public to participate in the upcoming Civil Service Excellence Awards (ACPA) 2016.

According to the statement issued by the department yesterday, there are two categories awarded this year – projects that had been implemented and have shown achievements/outcomes and positive impact towards the public service, and a category under proposals in the form of ideas that could potentially be practised in the public service.

It went on to state that the project paper is only open to civil servants while the proposal paper is open to all Bruneians citizens.

The closing date for submission is February 29.

When submitting the project/proposal papers, it should be focused on areas at improving the delivery of public services, innovations in public service, preventing and combating corruption in the public service and improving Integrity, transparency, accountability and responsiveness in the public service.

Areas such as advancing knowledge management in government, application of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Government: e-Government and quality Improvement of the Public Service Processes towards Ease of Doing Business should also be part of the focus when submitting the project/proposal papers.

There is no limit to the number of project proposal papers submitted as long as it meets the goals of ACPA.

Among the goals that were listed are promoting innovation in good governance in the public sector, appreciate the advantages/excellence in the public service, motivate public servants to further promote and encourage innovation, and enhance professionalism in the public service.

ACPA goals also include improving the image of the public service, collecting and disseminating successful practices to emulate successful agencies of the public sector, and encouraging public participation and private sector to contribute ideas.

The statement added that all project/proposal papers submitted should meet the requirements as mentioned in the Guidelines (Garis Panduan ACPA 2016).

Participation forms and guidelines for the Civil Service Excellence Award 2016 can be obtained from the Management Services Department, Prime Minister’s Office, Bahirah Building, Jalan Menteri Besar and website at www.jpp.gov.bn.
