Kg Sg Bunga Village Consultative Council to start marketing frozen goods
BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN
KAMPUNG Sg Bunga Village Consultative Council will be adding frozen goods to its list of products for sale, said its secretary.
Zaini Hj Salleh said the products would be sold alongside the variety of biscuits and dried seafood crackers at its shop in The Airport Mall.
He hoped the sale of frozen buns (with various fillings) will continue to increase the shop’s appeal to the public.
Kg Sg Bunga Village Consultative Council has earned $22,000 in product sales since the shop opened seven months ago.
The council is also making early preparations to promote Hari Raya Aidil Fitri cakes and biscuits, he said.
Zaini said the council hopes to achieve last year’s $6,000 earnings from sales of cakes and biscuits again.
The council will also be improving its homestay services, the Seri Tanjung Homestay.
Seri Tanjung Homestay was awarded the ASEAN Homestay Award at the 35th ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) in Manila last month.
“The improvements will include increasing the number of houses for homestays and the range of services in line with the ASEAN Homestay Award that we received this year.”
The homestay, he said, is run on a part-time basis and currently employs about 20 staff comprising family members and local villagers.
Apart from the homestay package, the company is also offering other local-made products as part of its ‘One Village One Product’ initiative.
These include traditional food such as prawn crackers, fish crackers, salted fish and pais (grilled marinated fish or meat wrapped in nipah leaves).
