Five foreign nationals were issued special passes for further investigation by the Immigration and National Registration Department (JIPK) in an operation on Wednesday at a rental house in Mukim Sungai Kianggeh.

The nationalities of the foreigners, two of which were women, weren’t disclosed in the press statement issued yesterday by JIPK.

One of the foreign nationals had been reported missing on August 10, 2015 after having run away from his employer.

During the operation, the JIPK officials caught a couple engaging in immoral activities while one man whose social visit pass was found to have expired 66 days ago was fined $400.

The foreigners were brought to the law enforcement unit for further action and investigations.

The Immigration Department and JIPK are advising employees and visitors not to misuse the passes given to them.

In order to ensure that foreign nationals who live or reside in the sultanate and are holding either work or visit passes are following rules and regulations governed by Chapter 17 of the Immigration Act, the department said it is a duty of employers and also the guarantor of the pass to ensure that they are not violating regulations such as working with other employers or working while holding a social visit pass.
