Institut Tahfiz invites applications for ‘Aliyah Qiraat Diploma course

INSTITUT Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah is inviting qualified candidates for enrolment in the 2016-2019 ‘Aliyah Qiraat Diploma Programme’.

To be eligible for the programme, potential applicants must be a Muslim and a citizen or permanent resident of Brunei.

They must also possess a Jayyid (good) rank in at least four subjects in the Brunei Islamic Studies Certificate (SPUB) examinations or four credits in Brunei Cambridge GCE ‘O’ Level or its equivalent including Malay and Arab languages.

Potential applicants must also pass the entrance interview and must also possess a health declaration from accredited government health centres.

For non-resident applicants who are qualified and interested in enrolling into the programme, they could apply by writing to Chairman of the Board of the institute.

The application forms can be obtained from the office of Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah at Simpang 175, KM 2, Jalan RIPAS, Bandar Seri Begawan, BA2112. The deadline for submission is March 1, 2016.

In a separate press release, the Ministry of Religious Affairs through its Examination Section, Department of Islamic Studies said it was opening registration for the entrance examination to Arabic schools for the 1437/2016 academic session.

To register, applicants must be Muslim and hold on to the teachings of Ahli Sunnah Wal-Jemaah, and citizen or permanent resident of the country.

The statement added that applicants must possess a valid birth certificate, citizenship certificate (if applicable), and are not aged above 12 as of January 1, 2016.

Applicants must also be studying at least in Year Four at any government or private primary schools and class II in religious schools.

The statement also provided additional requirements for new converts applicants.

Parents of the applicants must be citizen or permanent residents. The applicants and their parents must also have embraced Islam for more than 10 years.

Registration is open to all qualified applicants. Forms can be obtained from headmasters of applicants’ respective religious schools.
