DRY and hot weather conditions are expected to persist throughout the month of February, with temperatures reaching up to 35 degrees celsius, said the Meteorological Department yesterday.

Duty forecaster Nurulinani Hj Jahari said there will be less rainfall activity this month.

However, isolated showers are expected in the early hours of morning over coastal areas, and some rainfall over inland areas in the afternoon occasionally.

Nurulinani said the air quality may be a bit hazy from time to time, while fog is also possible early in the morning.

“These hazy and foggy conditions may affect the visibility of road users, and we advise motorists to practise caution when driving,” she said.

In mid-January, the department said the El Nino weather phenomenon is expected to continue into March.

The department added that February and March are typically the dry months for Brunei in terms of rainfall, with scorching weather conditions exacerbated by the El Nino effect.

Latest weather updates are available on the department’s website at www.met.gov.bn or follow the Facebook page (bruneiweather) and Brunei WX mobile application.
