A MAN was ordered to pay $10,000 in default of 10 months imprisonment after he pleaded guilty to attempting to smuggle 164.38 litres of Shell Diesoline.

Roslani Mokhsin, a 30-year-old unemployed local, admitted to concealing six plastic cans of fuel in his vehicle to sell in Limbang without a licence to export. He was caught with the items in Temburong during an inspection carried out by customs officers on August 9, 2014.

The first-time offender was sentenced under Section 140(1)(iv) of the Customs Order, while the fuel was ordered to be forfeited to the state.
