A LOCAL man who was charged with causing hurt to his wife and son was ordered to be remanded at Jerudong Prison yesterday after his bailers decided to discharge themselves from being his sureties.

Hj Erwan Hj Mansor, 39, claimed trial on Thursday over the charge of attacking his wife by repeatedly slapping her head and face, kicking her in the face while she was lying down and using a slipper to hit her face twice on January 27 around 10pm.

He was also charged with strangling and pushing his 16-year-old teenage son against the sliding door of the house during the same incident.

On Thursday, Hj Erwan was released on $3,000 bail or the same amount in two local sureties on the condition that he reported to the Women and Children Abuse Investigation Unit starting February 1. He was also ordered not to approach or contact directly or indirectly his wife and son and to stay at a separate address.

But according to the prosecution, he breached one of the bail conditions when less than 24 hours after his release on January 29, he went to the house where his wife and son were staying. Fortunately, they weren’t home then.
