THE Ministry of Development (MoD) is moving towards prudent spending of government assets in order to effectively deal with the current economic challenges, according to its press statement yesterday.

During a sharing session with members of the Legislative Council (LegCo) yesterday, the Minister of Development said they are going towards prudent spending of government assets to ensure the implementation of any government projects will not affect the welfare of the people in Brunei.

The minister said that the ministry will focus on delivering vital services to government projects for the best interest of the people.

YB Dato Paduka Hj Bahrin stressed the need to establish a pro-business environment in line with the government’s efforts to make it easier for investors to start and run businesses in the sultanate. Meanwhile, the department added that the Permanent Secretary (Administration and Finance) of MoD Hj Md Lutfi Abdullah, delivered a presentation titled ‘Ministry of Development – Towards Supporting Economic Growth’.

Hj Md Lutfi highlighted the four key factors which can support the country’s economic growth.

They are proper town and country planning; a sound legal framework; continuous improvement to existing processes and procedures; and the implementation of significant projects. The LegCo delegation was headed by YB Hj Jumat Akim, who is also village head of Kg Putat.
