BSP launches ‘Local Business Development Online Portal’
A PORTAL providing for interaction between Brunei Shell Joint Venture (BSJV) companies and vendors was launched at the BSJV SME Event yesterday.
Managing Director of Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP) Andrew Faulkner said the online portal dubbed the ‘Local Business Development Online Portal’ is for current and potential business partners to obtain information on how to do business with BSJV companies.
These include inquiring and applying for an expression of interest (EOI) as well as tendering opportunities via online.
“We strongly believe that good local business development is good business itself and we acknowledge the opportunities and challenges in developing small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Brunei Darussalam,” said Faulkner.
“To support this, BSJV companies will continue to work closely with our government to support local businesses through dedicated tenders open only to local SMEs,” he said.
Hjh Rosita Hassan, Head of Supply Chain Management at BSP, said the new portal, www.bsp-lbd.com.bn, would be an interactive platform for all parties involved with BSJV.
“It is a round-the-clock portal for which our business partners as well as anyone thinking of becoming our business partners can obtain information about the business opportunities on offer with BSJV,” she said.
“On the portal, you can ask questions, receive news regarding new tender opportunities or EOIs, submit your applications and review their statuses all in one place that is not merely an online notice board,” she said.
Minister of Energy and Industry at the Prime Minister’s Office Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Singamanteri Col (Rtd) Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Hj Mohd Yasmin Hj Umar said BSJV companies had awarded new contracts to 43 local companies worth a total of $921 million over the past five years.
“Working in collaboration is key in strengthening SMEs as their development and growth is crucial in contributing towards the socio-economic development of the nation,” the minister said in a speech read by Permanent Secretary of the Energy and Industry Department at the Prime Minister’s Office, Dato Paduka Hj Jamain Hj Julaihi.
“This befits today’s theme which is ‘Strengthening SME Development Through Continuous Collaboration’ in line with the titah of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam,” he said.
