ASEAN roadshow at SOAS College

MORE than 400 students from Years Seven and Eight of the Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien (SOAS) College attended a roadshow to raise awareness on the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) at the school’s auditorium yesterday.

Titled as “Get to Know ASEAN Roadshow”, the event aims to give exposure and disseminate information more widely pertaining to ASEAN related matters among the students of secondary schools in the country. The first of its series took place last week at the Awang Semaun Secondary School.

The roadshow was also intended to instil a strong sense of belonging to the ASEAN Community among students,in line with the bloc’s motto: One Vision, One Identity, One Community.

Present as the event’s guest of honour was the Acting Deputy Director of Information Hjh Noorashidah Hj Aliomar. Also in attendance were SOAS College Principal Zamain Abdul, officers from the Department of Information and teachers.

Held in an interactive-style, the session was delivered by Abdul Karim Hamdan, special duties officer Grade II as the Head of International Affairs Unit at the Department of Information.

The briefing also highlighted information about Brunei’s Vision 2035, including comparative statistics on Brunei and other ASEAN member states.

It was organised by Department of Information through its International Affairs Unit as secretariat for the ASEAN Committee for Culture and Information (ASEAN-COCI) sub-committee of information (SCI).
