MULTINATIONAL consultancy Amec Foster Wheeler will be collaborating with Institut Teknologi Brunei (ITB) again this year by hosting an oil and gas development training programme for ITB undergraduates.

Ravish Maqsood, Amec Foster Wheeler Asia Pacific Director of Public Relations and Manager for Business Development, said this year is the third time the company will be carrying out the ITB-Amec Foster Wheeler Training Programme, which is likely to take place after August.

“The programme is a very important platform for us to meet the objective which is to support the development of the Bruneian talent pool in the oil and gas industry as well as attract and equip university graduates and alumni for employment opportunities in line with the industry,” Maqsood said in an email interview.

Programme participants receive updated knowledge of the industry by learning practical approaches, in addition to theory learnt at ITB, as well as a chance to interact with experienced industry professionals.

Maqsood said the training programme is designed with four modules that are expected to be delivered in separate sessions of four hours each.

He also said Amec Foster Wheeler has plans to hire more locals upon securing more work in Brunei.

The company recently hired six fresh graduates from Brunei who were sent to Singapore for hands-on training, he said.

The ITB-Amec Foster Wheeler Training Programme is one of the collaboration activities under a memorandum of understanding signed between the two parties in 2013.
