MUSLIMS are urged to continue practising the _sunnah _of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) in their homes through religious activities.

Ustazah Hjh Zunainah Hj Gunong, a senior religious officer at the Islamic Dakwah Centre, told The Brunei Times yesterday during the Attorney General’s Chambers’ Maulidur Rasul celebration that performing the _sunnah _will enliven Islam in homes.

Although there are many Muslims performing acts of sunnah at home, she believes there are also a lot of Muslims who forget to perform such religious acts.

“We want to enliven our homes through sunnah (acts), to bring it back because it’s important as it gives rewards,” she said.

She also encouraged Muslims to take Prophet Muhammad (SAW) as their role model, as it has been said in the Quran that he is the perfect example of a human being.

Ustazah Hjh Zunainah said everyone at home must play their role as a Muslim to enliven _sunnah _through religious activities.

These activities include mass prayers with the family, reciting Al-Quran together and ensuring their homes don’t contain forbidden items.

“We all have our responsibilities and roles to take action (to practice sunnah),” she said.

During the Maulidur Rasul celebration, Attorney General Datin Seri Paduka Hjh Hayati Pehin Orang Kaya Shahbandar Dato Seri Paduka Hj Mohd Salleh was present as the guest of honour.

The celebration began with a special talk entitled “Appreciate the Sunnah of the Prophet (SAW)” followed by the presentation of a gift to a retired officer along with a gift to a recipient of the Excellent Civil Service Award during Civil Service Day in 2015.

The event then concluded with the recitation of zikir by the officers and staff of the Attorney General’s Chambers.

Institut Teknologi Brunei (ITB) also held a Maulidur Rasul celebration yesterday, in which ITB Acting Vice-Chancellor Pg Dr Saiful Baharin Pg Hj Duraman was present to listen to a religious talk by an invited speaker.

The event concluded with the presentation of a memento to the invited speaker from the Islamic Dakwah Centre.
