THE Korean embassy yesterday called on Korean language enthusiasts in Brunei to register for the Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK).

Applicants can register at the embassy in Kg Sg Hanching Baru during office hours except on Saturday and Sunday. The deadline for registration is January 19.

They must complete an application form obtainable at the embassy, provide two 3x4 cm photos and a copy of their identification card. The test fee for TOPIK I (beginner’s level) is $30 and $35 for TOPIK II (intermediate and advanced level).

The test for TOPIK I comprises listening and reading while TOPIK II includes a listening, writing and reading test.

The test is open to non-native Korean speakers in Brunei and overseas Koreans. It will be held on March 20 at Universiti Brunei Darussalam’s Language Centre and the results will be announced on April 21.

The test results can be used as a guideline for placing foreign students at Korean universities or non-Korean workers at enterprises in Korea or elsewhere.

For more information, the public can visit the embassy’s website at or Facebook page ‘koreanembassyinbrunei’ or contact Feroz at 2330250. - Sally Piri
