MUSLIMS should not be easily influenced by slanderous statements about Islam for these acts are only intended to weaken values of the religion, said the State Mufti yesterday.

Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Hj Awg Abd Aziz Juned delivered his lecture during Kuliah Subuh _or Dawn Lecture at Kg _Kapok Mosque in Muara yesterday, where he said that people who are not comfortable with Islam will always look down on Muslims and often make negative statements to humiliate the religion.

“In this modern world, many have an aversion towards Islam and they look down on religious scholars and the pious.

“This is a trend that incessantly happens from one decade to another,” said the state mufti, giving an example of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) who has been humiliated throughout his life.

He said that people are prone to making fun of religious/pious Muslims.

According to the mufti, Allah SWT tests those who are pious because Allah SWT wants to see how unwavering their patience is.

The main reason people humiliate and condemn Islam, said YB Pehin Dato Ustaz Hj Awg Abd Aziz, is to destroy the values of Islam and to see Muslims fear them.

“People have always accused Islam as a religion that causes wars, hostile towards other religions and has no tolerance. All these are not true. They want people to hate and despise Islam and together they could destroy the religion itself,” said the state mufti.

He went on to say that in order to avoid being influenced by negative statements and ideologies from other people, Muslims should prepare themselves with Al-Quran, knowledge and prayer as protection.

“We do not need to worry about those who often condemn our religion. What is important is that we must always stand firm in defending our religion, not just from people who hate Islam, but also Syaitan’s attempt to create disaccord among humans.
