A FAMILY of six yesterday recited their declaration of faith (Syahadah) in a conversion ceremony which took place in Kg Penanjong, Tutong.

Staff Sergeant Rabiah Limon, from the Dentist Services Unit of the Combat Support Services at the Royal Brunei Land Forces, chose Rabiah Abd Limon as her Muslim name.

According to the mother of four, the whole family decided to take the leap of faith upon her youngest child’s request to embrace Islam.

Her youngest son, who is 13 years old, now goes by the name Muhd Rayyan Sharizan Arsyad Muhammad Ariffin.

Mud Rayyan said that he had developed an interest in Islam and had performed the annual Ramadhan fast and daily prayers with his family, leading to his love for Islam.

The family’s declaration of faith was observed and guided by Islamic Conversion Officers from the Islamic Da’wah Centre.

Present as the guest of honour was the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Commander Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih Abdullah. He also presented a gift to mark the family’s special occasion.

Her husband, Muhammad Ariffin Abd Sigai, and four children - Nurul Ariqa Fatina, Nur Saidatul Syazwina, Muhammad Sharizam and Muhd Rayyan Sharizan Arsyad - recited their declaration of faith at her brother’s house in Kg Penanjong, Tutong.

Rabiah is the first person from the RBAF to convert this year as well as the 99th person to embrace Islam in the military since 2006, according to a statement from RBAF.
