Pusat Ehsan will begin the tendering process within a month for phase one of its plan to redevelop its main branch.

The non-governmental charity organisation for special needs people will be initiating the process under its redevelopment master plan, which will see it add new buildings, equipment and facilities to meet its future needs.

According to a member of its board of trustees, the redevelopment will bring its ageing facilities in Kg Bengkurong up to modern standards in line with its vision for the future.

Hj Ahmad Hj Abdul Rahman said the new centre will be able to accommodate more students and staff as well as increase their capacity to serve those with special needs.

“We’ve been planning for this redevelopment for many years, so we’re now ready to begin the tendering process for phase one, which will mostly involve the all-new rehabilitation block, by a month’s time.

Hj Ahmad said the redevelopment master plan would have three phases in total but wasn’t able to give a specific timeframe for when the other two phases would be carried out.

Upon the project’s completion, the all-new Pusat Ehsan will feature a canteen, a multi-purpose hall, a nursery, a vocational/pre-vocational block and a school block.

Hj Ahmad said they would likely hold a press briefing in the future to provide more in-depth details of each component in the master plan.
