THE Belait District Youth Council (MBDB) plans to hold an election sometime in February, to give the council an all-new managing committee, while its former heads set to take advisory roles.

The vice president of MBDB Dr Azasahibul Hj Zainal Abidin told The Brunei Times recently that the council plans for the election to take place after National Day celebrations, and is encouraging the heads of its youth bureaus aged 25 and above to step forward for candidacy.

MBDB is in the process of seeking approval from the Brunei Youth Council, the Registrar of Societies and the Ministry of Home Affairs to host the election to appoint a new managing committee for the next three years.

The council is planning to push for a dedicated hall from the Department of Youth and Sport which will allow them to host meetings and events which can boost the council's creativity and innovation.

Earlier this week, MBDB played a key role in the founding of Belait’s first volunteer’s group with the Belait District Office, which the vice president said will increase their contribution and profile in the district, potentially expanding their future membership.
