COMMEMORATING Maulidur Rasul means remembering the struggles of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) in completing a 23-year mission to build an Islamic civilisation whose ummah put their faith in Allah SWT.

Yang Berhormat Hj Jumat Akim, the village head of Kampung Putat, highlighted this in his speech at a Maulidur Rasul gathering and procession at Taman Rekreasi Herba Kg Putat yesterday.

“In Brunei, we are very fortunate. Under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, The Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, we are able to live in peace and harmony and are able to practice our faith without any interference,” he said.

He said Muslims should follow the Prophet’s (SAW) sunnah (way of life).

The procession was held as a symbol of love for the Prophet as well as to establish solidarity and cooperation between villagers.

Yesterday’s event began with a reading of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Md Bilal Saleh Hj Abdul Rahman. This was followed by a speech by YB Hj Jumat and continued with a Dikir Marhaban led by the Kg Putat Mosque Youth Dikir Group.

The procession began with a recitation of Selawat led by Jaharnor Hj Rungging, the head of the group, and moved towards Bukit Belanit before ending at Kg Putat Mosque.

The event also included a lecture by Ustaz Isham Hj Ismail from the Islamic Da’wah Centre and a donation to students who succeeded in entering Arabic schools and those who did well in their PSR 2015 exams.

The annual procession is the fourth to be held and is a collaboration between the Kg Putat Mosque Takmir Committee, the Kg Putat Village Consultative Council, the village neighbourhood watch and village residents.
