Ministries organise Dikir Maulud

GOVERNMENT ministries continued to hold Dikir Maulud ceremonies at mosques throughout the sultanate to liven up the days leading up to the Maulidur Rasul gathering and procession which will be held on December 24 at the Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) conducted the ceremony yesterday at Kg Keriam Mosque in Tutong.

According to a statement from MoRA, the dikir was also for obtaining Allah SWT’s blessings and mercy while at the same time fostering awareness of the contributions and sacrifices of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) in spreading Islam.

The statement added that the dikir was also aimed at strengthening relations between the ministry’s officers and staff, the congregation and village residents as well.

Minister of Religious Affairs Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Hj Awg Badaruddin Pengarah Dato Paduka Hj Awg Othman was present as guest of honour at the ceremony.

The ministry said a similar event will be held at Utama Mohd Salleh Mosque in Temburong on December 19.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) also joined in the Dikir Maulud ceremony last night at the Muhammad Jamalul Alam Mosque in Kuala Belait, headed by its minister Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Hj Abu Bakar Hj Apong.

The ceremony began with mass maghrib prayers followed by a mass reading of the dikir which was headed by officers from the Fire and Rescue Department, members of the Mukim Kuala Belait Consultative Council and the mosque’s takmir committee.

Present at the event were legislative council members, Yang Berhormat Hj Mohd Shafiee Ahmad who is also the village head of Kg Lumut I and YB Hj Mohd Yusof Hj Dulamin who is also the village head of Kg Mumong as well as MoHA’s Permanent Secretary Hj Mohd Abdoh Dato Seri Setia Hj Abdul Salam.

Meanwhile, at Mohammed Bolkiah Mosque in Kg Serusop, the Ministry of Education (MoE) held a similar event.

The event began with mass Isya’ prayers and was followed by the reading of Surah Al-Fatihah and Dikir Syarafil Anam headed by Acting Minister of Education Pg Dato Paduka Hj Bahrom Pg Hj Bahar.

Among those who were present was the ministry’s Permanent Secretary (Core Education) Dr Hj Junaidi Hj Abd Rahman along with head of department and senior officers from the ministry.

According to a press statement by the ministry, another Dikir Maulud will be held at the Pengiran Anak Puteri Hajah Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah in Kg Sungai Akar on December 20.
