A FOREIGN national was found dead on the porch of a staff house in Kg Pandan early yesterday morning by his co-workers.

The Royal Brunei Police Force said its preliminary investigations found that no foul play was suspected in the 31-year-old's death.

Colleagues of the deceased told The Brunei Times yesterday that the deceased had been in the sultanate for just over 28 days.

“We were all part of a new batch of workers who were being trained to do work offshore,” said one his co-workers who asked for anonymity at their quarters yesterday.

He said that he found the deceased lying on a chair in front of the house's front porch at 5.30am, and immediately notified his management who contacted the ambulance and the police.

He added that foreign workers living in the house often made calls to their family on the porch of the staff house, and noted that the deceased was last seen by his colleagues a little past midnight when they collectively decided to go to sleep.

Another colleague said the deceased appeared to be in good health the day prior, and had been recently certified medically fit to work. “We are all shocked and saddened because he was fine during training, and was doing good even up until when we all went to sleep.”
