THE new customs post building at the Sungai Tujoh checkpoint will begin operations tomorrow, the Royal Customs and Excise Department at the Ministry of Finance said yesterday.

According to a press statement issued by the ministry, only entrance lanes into Brunei will be operating.

Lanes for exitting Brunei into neighbouring Malaysian state will still remain at the current control post.

The new customs building is equipped with offices for customs officers and other government agencies. It also has a prayer room, a building specifically for inspections as well as an X-ray machine for vehicles and baggages.

There are four lanes for private cars and four lanes for commercial vehicles which includes passenger buses.

This is hoped to ensure efficient and quality service to the public, the statement read.

The ministry advises members of the public to adhere to rules and regulations. Signboards have been erected to help direct and ease the flow of vehicles.
