BELAIT

A RETAIL store in Belait was ordered to temporarily shut down after rat droppings were found on its shelves yesterday.

The Enforcement Section of the Kuala Belait and Seria Municipal Board, which effected the closure, said the store was also found to be selling food in tins that had rusted.

It was also selling expired vegetables and damaged goods.

Dust was found on most of the items in the store.

The enforcement section said the store would be allowed to reopen provided its management meets the health and safety instructions given.

They also advised retailers in the district to make sure cleanliness standards are adhered to for the safety and benefit of consumers.

Members of the public can relay any concerns or complaints to the Municipal Board’s hotline at 3330780.
