Go-kart race at National Stadium

GO-KART enthusiasts gathered yesterday at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium to take part in races during the third round of the Brunei Darussalam Karting Championship (BDKC) 2015.

A total of 28 go-karters – consisting of Bruneians and expats - participated in the races, either in the ‘Veteran’, ‘Rookie’ or ‘Senior’ categories.

Coming in first in the Veteran category was Hj Harith Aziz, while Jonny Kwa and Han Wee Yiau took home second and third places, respectively.

Ahmad Izzal Iman Hj Md Jazlan raced into first place in the Rookie category, followed by Malcolm Meherji in second place, and Sim Chen Hao in third place.

Meanwhile, Md Diauddin Hj Daud won first place in the Senior category, while Ahmad Mujib Hj Md Jazlan and Faadzil Aziiz Hj Besar came in second and third.

Present to hand out the prizes to the winners was Deputy Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Datin Paduka Hjh Adina Othman.

Speaking with The Brunei Times, President of the Go-Kart Association of Brunei Darussalam (PGBD) Muhammad Yazid Yakub said that all the go-kart drivers had competed using standardised 125cc low TexMex engines.

The PGBD president also shared that the go-karters are expecting to convene again later this year during the fourth and fifth rounds of the BDKC in the Tutong district and the capital, respectively.
