Ministry of Religious Affairs 69 khatam comes to a close

SOME 2,000 officers and staff under the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) yesterday celebrated their completion of the 69 Times Khatam Al-Quran ceremony in conjunction with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s 69th birthday.

Leading the congregants at the Masjid Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah was the Religious Affairs Minister, Yang Berhormat Pg Dato Seri Setia Dr Hj Mohammad Pg Hj Abdul Rahman.

The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by a mass recitation Quranic chapters from Surah Ad-Duha until Surah An-Naas.

The Khatam Al-Quran was followed by the reading of the Takhtim, Tahlil as well as Dikir Marhaban and concluded with Doa Khatam guided by the imam of the mosque, Mudim Hj Abdul Hj Saman.

Meanwhile, around 200 female congregants assembled at the women’s prayer hall of the mosque led by the minister’s spouse, Datin Hjh Halimah Hj Md Taib.

They were joined by female students from Arabic schools.

Also in attendance was the Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs, Pg Dato Paduka Hj Bahrom Pg Hj Bahar, along with the permanent secretary and deputy permanent secretary as well as their spouses.

Recently, the 69 Times Khatam Al-Quran was also conducted by the Ministry of Home Affairs at the Istana Nurul Iman which saw 1,669 participants aged 12 and above from all districts.
