Towards a drug-free ASEAN

THE Director of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Hj Jasmin Hj Jamudin represented the sultanate at the 36th Singapore-Meeting of ASEAN Senior Officials on Drug Matters (ASOD) in Singapore on August 24.
The two-day annual meeting acts as a platform for ASEAN member countries to discuss future actions in curbing illicit drug issues by exchanging information, knowledge and best practices to enhance regional cooperation.
During the meeting, Singapore’s Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office Masagos Zulkifli Masagos Mohammad applauded regional efforts in tackling drug trafficking through the ASEAN Airport Interdiction Task Force and Narcotics ASEAN Coordination Centre.
Masagos Zulkifli, who is also Singapore’s Second Minister of Home Affairs and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs, went on to stress the agreement made by the ministers during the 3rd ASEAN ministers meeting on drug issues.
He said the region’s aspirations of a ‘drugs-free ASEAN’ symbolises commitment and resilience towards the ‘zero-tolerance approach’ to ensure citizens and residents are well protected from drug abuse.
