THE Marine Department will inspect privately-owned fishing boats and ships in Temburong district from September 7 to 10, it said in a statement yesterday.

Fishing boats and ship owners registered with the department will be inspected at the Terminal Perahu dan Penumpang (passenger jetty) and near the Temburong District Office.

Owners are required to prepare a complete set of safety equipment on their boats or ships during the inspection by the Ship Survey and Enforcement Unit.

The department also reminded owners to display the registration number of their boats and ships before the inspection.

The registration number must be placed or displayed on the front left or right part of the boats or ships as stipulated in the Registration of Fishing Vessels and Pleasure Craft Regulations 2011.

The registration number must be clear and readable, the statement added.
