THE Paediatric Haemato-Oncology Ward of Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital yesterday received a $10,000 donation from Stella School.
The funds were raised by the school’s kindergarten and primary section through two recent fundraising activities.
In a press statement, RIPAS Hospital said the school’s kindergarten students personalised their own T-shirts with hand and foot prints and created a unique design while the primary students created their own personalised Hari Raya Aidil Fitri cards for sale. The school raised $10,000 from the sale of the items.
The items were available for purchase on a ‘sedekah’ (charity) basis with all proceeds going towards the children’s unit, the press statement added.
This was in line with Stella School’s commitment in encouraging its students to be actively involved with community work and to be caring towards the less fortunate, with the theme ‘Children Helping Children’.
The money was used to buy equipment requested by the Ministry of Health (MoH) and books for the children.
The students and their teachers visited the Paediatric Haemato-Oncology Ward yesterday to see the Personal Protection Equipment Organisers which had been installed as part of their donation.
Hj Muhd Jamal Hj Tersad, RIPAS’s Hospital Chief Executive Officer and paediatrician Dr Hjh Norehan Hj Johari were present during the visit.
