MoE sends off 41 Haj pilgrims

THE Ministry of Education (MoE) yesterday held a Doa Selamat ceremony for the safe journey of 41 staff and officers of the ministry who intend to perform their Haj this year.
Held at the Main Hall of Curriculum Development Department, MoE, the ceremony was organised by the Department of Examinations and Department of Science, Technology and Environment (STEP). The ceremony was officiated with the recital of Surah Al-Fatihah by the Imam of Kg Kapok mosque, Imam Hj Hanafiah Hj Mahmud.
The ceremony proceeded with a talk titled ‘Achieving Successful Haj Pilgrimage’ by a guest speaker from Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA), Ustaz Hj Sammali Hj Adam.
“Pilgrims must hold on to their strong faith in Allah while performing Haj,” Ustaz Hj Sammali said. In addition to determination and good intention, he explained that strong faith has helped many pilgrims in keeping their Haj journey smooth. Additionally, the speaker shared some of his experiences of performing Haj as guidance for the pilgrims. Present as the guest of honour was the Minister of Education, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar Hj Apong. After the talk, the minister was invited to the stage to hand over donation to the intending pilgrims.
The intending pilgrims comprising of 14 men and 27 women will depart to perform their Haj at the end of August and beginning of September this year. One of the intending pilgrims, Hjh Vivi Nor’haffizah Muhamad believed that aside from holding on to faith, safety precautions are one of the most important preparations for Haj pilgrimage.
The event concluded with the recital of _Doa Kesyukuran _and Doa Selamat for their safe journey.
