Local couple killed in highway collision

TWO Bruneians were killed in a two-vehicle crash at the Muara-Tutong Highway early yesterday morning, police said.

The Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) in a statement said the accident claimed the lives of the 52-year-old driver of Nissan Almera and his 38-year-old wife. The car collided with a Volkswagen Toureg, which was driven by a 42-year-old local female, police added. The female driver was said to have suffered from chest pain.

Acting Head of RBPF Public Relations Unit ASP Hj Mohd Noor Hj Abd Rahman said the accident happened around 6.25am.

The Sengkurong Police Station received a report the accident through the emergency hotline at 6.30am.

Police said the cause of the fatal accident is still under investigation.
