THE Guild of Graduates of Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) will be organising ‘Career 101’, an exhibition aimed at showcasing employment and entrepreneurial opportunities to UBD alumni and students as well as the public from today until August 22.

Jointly organised by the Centre of Networking, Employment and Career Training (CoNect) and the Office of Alumni Relations and Advancement (OARA), the event will take place at the university’s student centre and will feature a number of participating companies and establishments offering employment opportunities. It will also showcase different types of businesses as well as local entrepreneurs.

According to Abu Hurairah bin Haji Mohamad, the guild’s Executive of Media, the launching ceremony will be held today and will be officiated by the head of the Higher Education Division at the Ministry of Education, Hjh Anis Faudzulani Hj Dzulkiflee.

“We hope UBD alumni members, current students and interested members of the public will come to the UBD Student Centre to interact with participating companies about employment opportunities. As one of the organising committee members, we envision the event as a platform for visitors to have one-to-one consultations with potential employers on any issues related to their career.”

He added that the three-day event will also feature talks and seminar sessions with a number of prominent speakers from government and private agencies such as Lim Hong Huat, Director of the Human Resources Department under the Department of Economic Planning and Development (JPKE), and Hj Ali Yusri Abd Ghafor, head of the Counseling and Career Guidance Unit under the Ministry of Education.

Visitors are also reminded to bring their CVs and other relevant documents as well as to dress professionally in case participating employers wish to conduct walk-in interviews.
