THE Qatar Embassy here donated equipment and toys to the Paediatric Haemato-oncology Ward at the Women and Child Centre yesterday.
Ambassador Saleh Mohammed Al-Nesef visited the Paediatric Haemato-oncology Ward to have a look at the multi-sensory cart, which included a rotating project ball, dancing lights with speaker, mirage projector package and fibre optic lamp.
The multi-sensory cart is used to promote relaxation and comfort through the use of lights, music, and touch to provide multi-sensory stimulation to children, a press release from Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital said.
“The new form of therapy serves as a distraction for difficult and often painful procedures.”
The multi-sensory cart also aims to reduce physical and emotional anxiety and pain and encourage cooperation and participation.
“This can be achieved by simply adapting the lighting, atmosphere, sound and textures to the specific needs of the individual at the time of use,” the statement read.
