Public urged to participate in Ramah Mesra

THE Minister of Home Affairs yesterday called on all citizens and residents of Brunei to take part in the upcoming Ramah Mesra or get-together ceremony with His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in all four districts.
Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Hj Awg Badaruddin Pengarah Dato Paduka Hj Awg Othman made the statement in an interview with the media-at a press conference during the final full dress rehearsal for the Majlis Ramah ceremony in Tutong District.
“Majlis Ramah Mesra or the get-together session with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, is an opportunity for each member of the community to come and present themselves to His Majesty, not necessarily just traditional and cultural performances, but to show how His Majesty’s subjects have achieved success under his leadership,” the minister told members of the mediai.
YB Pehin Ustaz Hj Awg Badaruddin added that the event not only serves as an opportunity to express thanks and gratitude for all the privileges received as Bruneian citizens and residents but to present themselves to His Majesty and proudly say, “This is us, Your Majesty. We are your citizens who have achieved excellence”.
“Let us share our success stories. Say, for instance, there are families who have (successfully educated) their children to become doctors. Do come forward… This is an achievement worth sharing (to His Majesty) and a sign that we are envisioning our Wawasan 2035 under the leadership of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.”
Preparations for the meet-and-greet ceremony with residents in Tutong district were completed yesterday with 569 people across the multi-cultural community to take part in the field performance reflecting this year’s theme of ‘Raja Berwawasan Negara Cemerlang’ (Visionary Monarch, Excellent Nation).
“As the chairperson of the celebration committee of His Majesty’s 69th birthday, we are here today to observe everything that has been prepared in Tutong district which is similar to what we have done in all other districts. This is to make sure that everyone involved will show their best for the field performances based on the chosen theme,” he said.
The minister reiterated that the most important thing is to highlight our undivided support of our monarch’s leadership while at the same time showcasing the people’s strong unity, cooperation and harmony.
The full dress rehearsal took place in the open field of the Tutong District Community Hall Complex.
Also present was Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Hj Halbi Hj Mohd Yussof.
