Raya dos at child dev’t, psychiatric rehab centres

SMILES and laughter were seen in the faces of some 200 children as the Child Development Centre (CDC) celebrated Hari Raya Aidil Fitri at Al-‘Afiah Hall yesterday.
Head of CDC Dr Hjh Mawarni Hj Abdul Hamid said the happiness and joy of the festive season were shared with the children at the get together.
“It is hoped that this gathering today will create sweet memories for the kids and foster amiable relationships between the centre’s personnel and the parents and guardians,” she said.
“We would also like to extend out heartiest appreciation to the agencies which supportive with their donations of equipments and facilities to the centre,” she added.
Minister of Health Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Hj Adanan Begawan Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Seri Setia Hj Md Yusof and his spouse Datin Paduka Hjh Salmah were the guests of honour. They handed out “duit raya” or monetary gifts from sponsors and donors to the children.
Earlier in the day, the minister also attended a Hari Raya event at the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Centre in Kiarong.
Head of the Psychiatry Department Dr Hilda Ho said the annual event was an opportunity for patients and their families to mingle with health staff in an informal setting.
This year, the centre presented 21 awards to clients who excelled in various areas including Quran reading, Islamic knowledge, full fasting during the month of Ramadhan, creativity and innovation, best performance in recovery programmes and compliance in scheduled medication and treatment.
