ONLINE applications for the second round of the Higher Education Centralised Admission System (HECAS 2015) are now open for the 2015/2016 academic session.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Education (MoE), the applications will be for 1st Degree programmes that are being offered by Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) and the Scholarship Section at MoE.

The closing date for the applications is set at three working days after the announcement of the GCE A-Level June 2015 results by the Department of Examination.

It is expected to close at 4.30pm on the third working day. However, the actual closing date will be announced later on the HECAS portal.

Those interested in applying for overseas scholarships are required to also apply to at least one programme offered by a local higher education institution.

Additionally, applicants are only allowed to select a maximum of two programmes from each of the local higher education institutions – UBD, Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali, Institut Teknologi Brunei and Politeknik Brunei – or for overseas scholarship.

A maximum six programmes can be selected by applicants with differing charges. The charges based on the number of programmes are $5 for one programme, $10 for two programmes, $15 for three programmes and $20 for four to six programmes.

Applicants that had applied during the first round of HECAS 2015 but were unsuccessful with their applications can apply once more by upgrading their qualifications and retrieving their HECAS 2015 (1st round) online form.

To do so, the applicants are to send an SMS request to 38855 with the text “hecasresubmit<IC number)”. The resubmission will be subjected to a one-time charge of $5.

There is also the option to contact the HECAS Administration through e-mail at admission@hecas.edu.bn or through their hotline 2381224/2380620.

Those interested can also visit designated HECAS sites and meet with career officers of selected schools for further assistance.

The HECAS site for the Brunei-Muara district is Maktab Duli Pengiran Muda Al-Muhtadee Billah while those in the Tutong district can go to Sekolah Menengah Sayyidina Othman .

The Temburong district site is set at Sekolah Menengah Sultan Hassan and those in the Belait district can meet the career officers at Sekolah Menenah Sayyidina Ali.
