THE MV Sentosa double-deck vessel cruise service is now available twice a week, said the operations manager of Sha-Zan Marine Sdn Bhd yesterday.

The two-hour cruise along the Brunei River is now scheduled every Friday at 9.30am and Sunday at 1.30pm with just a fee of $29 for adults and $19 for children. A package for a family of four is priced at $79 while a group of six adults can go on board for $129.

The ship sails on a fixed route starting from the Queen Elizabeth Jetty II along Jalan Kota Batu, heading towards the Bandar Seri Begawan Royal Wharf before making a turn at Jong Batu to return to the jetty.

It is able to accomodate 60 passengers going a sightseeing tour of Kg Ayer in its comfortable air-conditioned cabin which complies with the marine safety regulations.

Sha-Zan Marine Operations Manager Daniel Hilman said introducing the twice weekly cruise to the public is hoped to make more locals aware of what MV Sentosa has to offer.

“We are trying to familiarise the local market with this service first. If the people in our own country are not aware of it, how would people from abroad know that it exists?” he said.

MV Sentosa began its operations in November last year concentrating on private charters. Most of the reservations were made by large groups and through travel agencies.

“Right now we are working closely with the Brunei Tourism Department. We are also getting the travel agencies to help us see how we could market the service further and improve on it,” he said, adding more days could be included to the schedule if there is demand for it.

Those interested can turn up on Fridays and Sundays when MV Sentosa docks at the Queen Elizabeth Jetty II. Reservations can be made by calling the company at 2391161 or 8601099, preferably a week before the planned cruise. Updates are also available on its Instagram @bruneirivercruise and Brunei River Cruise Facebook page.
