KAMPUNG Belimbing feted the “beautiful decorative lights” of its village residents during the Kg Belimbing Hari Raya Aidil Fitri celebration last night at the Tasik Sarubing Park.

In the electric decorative lights category, Hj Ali Hassan Hj Japar emerged as the winner with Hj Zamal Hj Sapar claiming the second spot while third went to Mariana Hj Salleh.

In the traditional kerosene-lit (minyak tanah) decorative lights, Garip Hj Yussof won first place ahead of Mohd Ali Hj Tassim and third place went to Lawi Hj Lamat.

Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Hj Halbi Md Yussop gave away the prizes.

The deputy home minister then visited the four camp zones set up by the Kg Belimbing village residents where each zone presented its own unique dishes such as Laksa and a giant platter of fragrant rice tossed with lamb ribs.

The Belimbing Village Consultative Council in a statement said the celebration was held to give a chance to all the village residents to gather and enjoy the Hari Raya atmosphere in the village.

“Kg Belimbing’s Hari Raya celebration also aims to foster stronger neighbourhood, brotherhood and family ties so the village residents can work together to bring success in organising such major events,” tit said. The deputy minister was welcomed by Legislative Council member and Kg Belimbing Village Leader Yang Berhormat Hj Gapor @ Hj Md Daud Karim, Advisor to the Belimbing Village Consultative Council Dato Paduka Hj Mohd Alimin Hj Abd Wahab and Penghulu of Mukim Kota Batu Awang Naim Hj Kamis.
