THE Institute of Brunei Technical Education Wasan Vocational School Campus (IBTE SVW Campus) concluded its participation in a five-day Agriculture and IT-based Workshop yesterday.
The workshop was conducted following the Memorandum of Understanding signed between Southeast Asian Regional Open Learning Centre (SEAMEO SEAMOLEC) and Southeast Asian Regional Centre for Tropical Biology (SEAMEO BIOTROP) and the Institute of Brunei Technical Education Wasan Vocational School Campus (IBTE SVW Campus).
The closing ceremony was attended by Deputy Director for Resource Management of SEAMEO BIOTROP, Dr Arief Sabdo Yuwono, head of the delegation for SEAMEO SEAMOLEC that organised the IT-based aspects of the workshop, Renaldo Rhesky, and tissue culture specialist, Erina Sulistiani (MSc).
In the press statement, IBTE SVW Campus said the workshop was aimed at getting more knowledge on agriculture and technology particularly for developing tissue culture in the Sultanate.
“The workshop not only involved the sharing of various insights regarding the importance of developing tissue culture, but it also included demonstrations, lectures, and training for the instructors of IBTE SVW Campus, focusing primarily on the theoretical background and practical lab work in tissue culture, and the theoretical and practical work in video animation,” it said.
Dr Arief Sabdo Yuwono said that the workshop was aimed at strengthening the relationship between the Sultanate and Indonesia as well as other ASEAN countries through the field of agriculture and tropical biology as well as ICT.
“If instructors choose to deliver their lessons through ICT, they can find that it can be easier than more conventional means,” he said.
