BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN
TWENTY-NINE universities and colleges from the United Kingdom will be participating in the fourth UK Education Fair on August 19 at The Empire Hotel and Country Club.
In a brief interview with The Brunei Times, British High Commissioner to Brunei, Mr David Campbell said the annual education fair, orgranised by the British Universities Brunei Association (BUBA), is aimed at students who are considering to study in the UK this autumn as well as presenting opportunities for any students who are still looking for a University place in 2015.
“The UK is the second most popular destination in the world for overseas students. Also, what UK has to offer Brunei, on the other hand is the familiarity,” said Campbell noting the similarity in culture and education system the two nation shares.
In addition to the familiarity that UK offers to its potential Bruneian students, the high commissioner added that studying in the UK can further strengthen the cultural ties between the two countries, while enabling Bruneian students to make new friends from all walks of life.
“There’s familiarity but then there’s also a tremendous opportunity as it really is a global education. All our universities have these students coming from all around the world.
“This will give the students the opportunity to meet new people, build contacts and network with people,” he added.
Campbell went on to say that the BUBA UK Higher education fair is an excellent opportunity for interested individuals to discover accurate information about UK study opportunities at different levels including foundation, undergraduate, postgraduate and professional development courses.
“Students who wants to know more on the courses they are interested in, whether they will be living on campus or not or are wondering what the sport facilities there are like may come and do their enquiries,” said the high commissioner.
The institutions participating in the event include University of Aberdeen, University of Bradford, Cardiff University, University College London, University of East Anglia, University of Essex, University of Hull, University of Kent and Writtle College.
Students are also advised to bring copies of qualifications and transcript when they come to the fair, it added.
The education fair will be held from 2pm to 7pm at the Indera Samudra Grand Hall.
