STUDENTS at the Institute Brunei Technology Education Pusat Latihan Mekanik (IBTE PLM) campus are encouraged to sign up for the National Youth Service Programme (PKBN) as it can help them build character and discipline while instilling its youth members with patriotic spirit and love for the sultanate.

PKBN Head Rohani Hj Hasan said this during a briefing held at IBTE PLM’s orientation event on Monday.

The briefing was held as both institutions share the same target age groups

According to PKBN, their trainees are usually between the ages of 16 to 21 years old and IBTE PLM students are aged 17-23 years old.

Rohani said the objective of the briefing was to inform IBTE PLM students of the opportunities available at PKBN.

Application forms for the fifth intake of the programme – scheduled to be held in December – will be available until October 31.

The forms can be obtained from PKBN’s headquarters at Anggerek Desa Flat in Berakas, Youth and Sports Departments at Tutong, Belait and Temburong branches and Department of Schools at Ong Sum Ping.

PKBN added that 38 IBTE PLM students under the ISQ (Industrial Skill Qualification) One until Four programme have participated in the PKBN before becoming trainees at IBTE PLM.
