A LOCAL will serve three months in jail after failing to pay a $1,500 fine for testing positive for methylamphetamine.

Asmadi Busrah was initially brought before the Kuala Belait Magistrate Court on April 2, where he plead guilty for consuming methylamphetamine on January 2013.

He was ordered to undergo another urine test on the same day, which he tested positive for.

The prosecution, lead by Assitant Narcotic Officer Izuwan Khalid Kipli, brought forward the results of the urine examination last week.

The Kuala Belait Magistrate Harnita Zelda Skinner also ordered Asmadi to undergo rehabilitation at the Al-Islah Rehabilitation Centre in Tutong upon completing his jail sentence.
