OVER 40 orphans from Lambak Kanan National Housing Scheme (RPN) Area 4 yesterday received monetary donation and daily needs items from funds raised by the housing scheme’s Village Consultative Council (MPK).

The event started off with the recitation of the Surah Al–Fatihah followed by the presentation of the donations to orphans as well as single mothers.

A spokesperson from the council told The Brunei Times that the annual event aimed at giving back to the community.

“This is the sixth year that we are holding this event during the fasting month. Donations come from individuals from around the area as well as from our council members,” he said.

According to him, over $5,000 was raised and donated to the orphans this year.

“They are also receiving food items like instant noodles and rice for their daily needs,” he added.

Also receiving donations in the form of daily needs items were 17 single mothers from the area.

Handing over the donations to the recipients was the Managing Director of Syarikat Perniagaan Malar Setia Hj Abd Rahman Hj Metassim.
