THE Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) yesterday held a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony to mark the opening of the tadarus (mass reciting of the Noble Quran) programme to enliven the blessed month of Ramadhan.

Hosted by Minister of Religious Affairs Yang Berhormat Pg Dato Seri Setia Dr Hj Mohammad Pg Hj Abdul Rahman at his residence in Kampung Jangsak, the activity was aimed to encourage the recitation of Al-Quran as well as to instil a sense of appreciation and greater understanding of the Quran during Ramadhan.

The religious event was officiated by the minister and followed by a mass recital of the Surah Al-Fatihah and Khatam Al-Quran led by Imam Hj Kanderishah Hj Takong from Masjid Sultan Sharif Ali Sengkurong, while the tahlil was led by Imam Hj Md Daud Hj Abdul Kadir of Masjid Kampong Beribi. Also present at the ceremony were senior officials from MoRA and residents of Kampung Jangsak.

Concluding the ceremony, the delegation broke their fast before performing mass Maghrib prayers.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs holds such a function every Ramadhan to mark the blessed month while increasing amal ibadah (act of worship) as well as to foster closer relationship amongst the ministry's personnel.
