THE registration deadline for the Museums Department’s inaugural ‘Museums Race Brunei’ has been extended to July 10.

The race, slated to take place over three consecutive Sundays in August, will see teams of four exploring the history of Brunei by racing between the country’s museums, galleries and national heritage sites, in an effort to acquire clues needed to solve riddles and overcome obstacles.

Potential sites that participants will explore during the race are the Royal Regalia Building, Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque, Kota Batu’s archaeological site and the recently-launched Maritime Museum, among others.

According to the Museums Race Brunei website, each team will have to register and pay $120 for each participant to receive a free race shirt, bag, finisher’s medal, a car sticker and a flag.

The website also included information on what the participants might need during the race. These include mobile phones, powerbanks, dictionaries and compasses.

It was previously reported that the race is organised as part of the Museums Department’s 50th anniversary this year, and that registrations have to be submitted by July 2.

Public relations officer at the Museums Department Mariani Hj Abu Bakar said that the race is open to participants of all ages, but the department hopes to attract the attention of more youth in the country.

Registrations for Museums Race Brunei can be made online at www.museumsracebrunei.com.

The race will take place on August 16, 23 and 30.
