THREE hundred personnel from the Ministry of Development yesterday recited Surah Yassin and tahlil prayers to seek blessings for the late parents of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.

Minister of Development Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Hj Suyoi Hj Osman was present the ceremony held at the Royal Mausoleum in Jalan Tutong.

Also present were permanent secretaries Hj Muhammad Lutfi Abdullah and Hj Marzuke Hj Mohsin, deputy permanent secretaries and other senior officers.

The religious event is an annual activity conducted by the ministry during the month of Ramadhan.

Mosque Affairs Officer Faizal Rosli led the recital of Surah Yassin and tahlil.

Al-Marhum Sultan Hj Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien passed away on September 7, 1986, while Al-Marhumah Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit passed away on September 13, 1979.

The Brunei Darussalam Scouts Association also held a tadarus ceremony at their headquarters in Beribi yesterday, as part of their religious activities during the Muslim holy month of Ramadhan.

Present at the event was Scout’s Chief Commissioner, Hj Badar Hj Awang Ali, Scout’s Secretary General, Hj Zainuddin Hj Jaafar as well as scout leaders and members from across Brunei.

The event began with recital of the Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by prayers and a recital of several verses from the Quran.

The Scouts’ annual religious activities aims to strengthen ties among scout members throughout the country, as well as to bolster spiritual devotion during the month of Ramadhan.
