Drugs offender gets 3 years jail, fine

A REPEAT drugs offender was sentenced to three years in jail and a fine yesterday after he pleaded guilty.
The 41-year-old defendant, Samsir Hj Ahad, was arrested on suspicion of drug activities with other people following a Narcotics Control Bureau raid at a Jerudong commercial building on September 5, 2012.
During the inspection, Samsir surrendered a glass tube believed to have been used for drug consumption.
Following the investigation, Samsir’s drugs test results returned positive with the presence of methamphetamine, a Class A drug locally known as syabu.
Samsir further admitted to consuming the drugs.
The item that Samsir surrendered was found to have contained syabu.
During the court proceedings yesterday, Samsir was further fined $1,500 for possession of drug paraphernalia and ordered to serve the jail term with immediate effect.
